What is Seraquin?
Seraquin is a highly nutritional supplement formulated to help maintain healthy joint function. Seraquin contains high quality ingredients like Glucosamine which helps to rebuild joint cartilage and Chondroitin which slows the degeneration of cartilage. It also consists of turmeric extracts which is of medicinal in nature and an anti-oxidant. It is highly recommended to be roped in with other medicines which are consumed to treat arthritis. Aging causes arthritis. We cannot prevent aging but we can prevent the pain that arises from arthritis. It is heartbreaking to see your beloved pet writhing in pain. Daily usage of Seraquin relives the pain and increases mobility of your dog that is suffering from arthritis. It works wonderfully in supporting the normal functioning of the joints and tendons.
Joint disease can take a number of forms. Sometimes the problem may originate as a growth deformity, for instance in large breed dogs, such as German Shepherds and Retrievers. Alternatively, joint disease may result from an injury, such as a fracture or road-traffic accident. Alternatively the joint may become damaged simply through the process of wear (for instance in older dogs and cats) Irrespective of the initial cause of the problem, over time the joint becomes inflamed and irritated, frequently resulting in inflammation and pain, and swelling around the joint and associated tissues. This inflammation of the joint and surrounding tissues is termed 'arthritis' or 'osteo-arthritis' Over a period of time this inflammation creates further damage, and may reach a stage where areas of the cartilage become worn, leaving the bone exposed underneath, potentially leading to pain, inflammation and restricted movement.

In dogs, the most commonly affected joints are the hips, knees and elbows, and in certain breeds joint injury can start early in life, and arthritis due to 'wear and tear' is common.
In cats, the pelvic joints and elbows are more commonly affected, with arthritis a common consequence of road-traffic accidents and fractures.
What are the signs?
Although joint problems can occur in young animals they are more commonly seen in middle-aged and older pets, with studies estimating that 1 in 5 older cats and dogs are affected by arthritis. It is important to look out for the early signs of changes, which may include:
Licking or self injury
Reluctance to walk
Difficulty in getting up
Difficulty in climbing stairs
Difficulty in jumping into car
Limping or stiffness
Change in character aggression
Reduced interaction with people
Reduced appetite
Increased in anxiety/clinginess
A thorough examination of your dog or cat by your vet is often sufficient to diagnose joint problems and to identify which joints are affected. Sometimes further examination using manipulation or x-ray may be required to confirm the diagnosis.
Why is Seraquin different from other joint supplements?
Glucosamine Hydrochloride
Provides aminosugars known to help the manufacture of cartilage and synovial fluid.
Chondroitin
Known to provide the building blocks for the synthesis of glucosaminoglycans (cartilage building blocks)
Curcumin
A powerful antioxidant that reduces the damaging effects of oxidative stress. Seraquin is composed of high-quality ingredients in a unique combination - and is not the same as human products bought in a health food store.
How should I give Seraquin to my dog or cat?
Seraquin is available in two sizes of tasty chewable tablets, which are eaten freely by most dogs and cats.
How long will it be before I see an effect?
As Seraquin is designed to support joint, rather than treat the symptoms of pain and inflammation, you may not see an immediate effect. We recommend 4-6 weeks at the initial level - your vet will give you specific advice on how much Seraquin to give your dog or cat.
Am I likely to see any side effects?
Seraquin is a naturally-derived nutritional supplement and so you should not see any adverse effects in your pet.
Can I use Seraquin alongside prescription medicine treatments?
Seraquin is a nutritional supplement, and can be used with prescription medicines with the recommendation of your vet.
What are the best ways to maintain joint health?
Weight control
Joint problems are aggravated by excess weight. The more excessive the weight, the more the aggravation is likely to be. If a joint is damaged, carrying excess weight causes both additional pain and increased damage to the joint. In fact, some pets with arthritic disease are unable to support their bodyweight and in due course this can even affect the length of their lives.
Whilst exercise may assist in the control of bodyweight in a young active animal, it is not always advisable to exercise an affected joint excessively. There is often difficulty in getting your dog to exercise off excess calories, and cats are harder to exercise, so a reduction in food intake is usually necessary.
Feeding your pet smaller portions of less-fattening food and cutting out tit-bits is one way of controlling calorie intake to manage bodyweight.
Exercise management
Often, regular gentle exercise helps to maintain mobility - joints that do not have regular movement may stiffen up, encouraging your pet to become even less active.
Swimming (hydrotherapy) is an increasingly popular exercise, particularly for dogs with osteoarthritis.
Swimming helps build up muscle mass which will support the joint. It is a 'low impact' exercise so won't aggravate joint pain.
Prescription medicines
as in humans prescription medicines for dogs and cats are commonly used to reduce pain and inflammation, under direct supervision of a veterinary surgeon.
Since Seraquin is a nutritional supplement it may not have any negative effects. But certain conditions need to be kept in mind while using Seraquin, these are:
